Personal Experience & Biography

Dr. Mark Anderson is a leading expert in thermal hydraulics and advanced energy system performance, serving as Professor and Associate Chair of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. As Director of the UW Thermal Hydraulics Laboratory and the UW–Tantalus facility, he leads experimental research on high-temperature coolants, supercritical fluids, advanced power cycles, and next-generation reactor technologies. His work spans nuclear, solar, fossil, and energy storage systems, with a focus on fluid physics, corrosion behavior, and materials compatibility. A recognized voice in the international research community, he represents the United States to the IAEA for coordinated research on supercritical fluids.
