As an emerging leader in nuclear engineering, our startup is developing revolutionary reactor technology to secure safe and abundant energy for future generations.  We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Ops Lead to join our dynamic team and contribute to the design and development of next-generation nuclear reactors.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an Engineering Ops Lead to serve as the architect of our engineering environment. In this role, you will be responsible for the selection, configuration, and implementation of our CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems. Beyond the initial setup, you will act as the technical bridge for the engineering team, providing modeling support, managing document control processes, and ensuring our process work-flows support business objectives.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the evaluation and selection process for a PLM and CAD suite tailored to our company’s specific design, manufacturing and compliance needs.
  • Own the end-to-end rollout, including environment setup and integration with other systems.
  • Develop and configure PLM workflows (e.g., ECR/ECN/ECO), lifecycle states, and part numbering schemes.
  • Establish company-wide CAD standards, including templates, drawing borders, and parts libraries.
  • Curate and maintain the PLM database to ensure data integrity.
  • Act as the first line of defense for CAD/PLM technical issues, troubleshooting software crashes, file corruption, or vaulting errors.
  • Create documentation and lead training sessions to onboard new hires and train current engineers on best practices.  
  • Provide modeling and drafting support for the engineering team.

qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field, or 10 years' experience in a similar role.
  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering operations role, with at least 2 years focused on PLM administration, processes and implementation. Experience with at least two different platforms
  • High level proficiency in at least one major 3D CAD software (eg. CATIA, Solidworks, Creo, NX, Revit) and experience with at least three.
  • Deep understanding of configuration management and product development processes.  
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure as it relates to engineering software (license servers, SQL databases, cloud vs. on-premise hosting).
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required.

Preferred:

  • Experience standing up a PLM system for a startup or a rapidly scaling mid-sized company.
  • Familiarity with GD&T, MBD/MBSE and document management and  release protocols
